About

Me and my partner had dinner here last weekend and we absolutely loved it. It was my first time trying Nepalese food and I am pleasently surprised. Its like a wonderful mix of Indian and Chinese food. We had the Momo platter and a noodle dish and both were great, the Momo's especially were good, essentially the same as Chinese dumplings but with a different mor earthy spice pallette. Loved them, will absolutely go back. Downtown Momo was also really great value for money and the service was g

I visited Downtown Momo in Parramatta with a group of four, hoping for a warm atmosphere and authentic Nepali flavors. Unfortunately, the experience was a letdown from the moment we walked in. The customer service was non-existent. We weren't greeted with a hello,hi, namestyor even a simple acknowledgement when we entered. We ended up just picking a random table ourselves. A staff member eventually came over and placed water and four cups on the table, but they didnโ€™t say a single word we were shocked , no greeting, no offer of a menu, nothing. We actually considered leaving immediately, but since we had already paid for street parking and there weren't many other Nepali options nearby, we decided to stay for the food. Being honest food were okay not good as we were expecting lacking Authenticity. We ordered the Veg Jhol Momo, Chilli Chips, Momo Chowmein, and a Chicken Khaja Set. Khaja Set was the biggest disappointment. The taste was very subtle and lacked the punch you expect from a traditional set. i liked Momo Chowmein and chilly chips it wasn't overly oily and had good flavor. I think the food felt adjusted for a multicultural palate rather than staying true to authentic Nepali roots, which is fair enough. Lastly, If you are looking for that "back home" traditional taste, you might be disappointed. But if you after normal spices and person looking for different taste than authentic its a good place to try food. Also, After finishing our meal and paying the bill, the staff didn't say a single word to us. No 'thank you,' no 'how was your food,' not even a 'see you , nothing.' We felt like we were just a transaction rather than guests. Itโ€™s a shame because we left feeling completely unwelcome. Additionally, i think Finding a spot is difficult. Expect to circle around and pay for street parking (not sure if there is any free spot parking). If you value hospitality and feeling welcomed, this isn't the place. However, if you don't mind zero interaction with staff, the food is "okay" at best. Definitely, I wouldn't rush back to go there again, sorry. Please Downtown momo Team focus on customer service too.

Really delicious Nepalese food especially the chilli fried momos. I would recommend it if youโ€™re after something with a lot of heat. Itโ€™s very good nice atmosphere in there and it can house heaps of people. The prices are reasonable and same with the wait. Theres street parking but I think itโ€™s either limited or paid.

Good food, they can be pretty spicy! Been visiting this restaurant for more than a year since moving to Parramatta. This is one of my go-to for late night meals as they open late. Tried almost all items on the menu now from bara, thukpa, noodles, fried rice of both meat and vegetarian options. The owner and staff are always welcoming and nice.

We ordered the momos platter, fried rice, and veg chowmein momos. I especially loved the chowmein and fried riceโ€”they were flavorful and perfectly cooked! The service was great, and the staff were polite and welcoming. A really good place to explore if youโ€™re craving momos near Parramatta. ๐Ÿฅข
