It feels European but tastes surprisingly Asian (although, it may shift from day to day and from course to course). It looks very much like fine dining, but has a warm casual vibe. in other words, it’s a very Melburnian affair. The food is good, the drinks are good, the service is attentive and friendly. It’s always nice to stop by.

We visited Etta with a reservation and tried their spring menu. The restaurant’s setup, staff, and ambience were all top-notch, and they offered a great selection of fusion dishes. We started with starters and small plates, and then shared a main dish and desserts. Overall, the food was well-prepared, but the Cantonese roasted pork was a bit too fatty for our taste. It would have been perfect if the meat was leaner. If you’re looking for a great dining experience, don’t miss out on Etta!

Incredible menu. Great incorporation of Asian flavours. I’ve eaten (too) many Zhong Zi (rice dumplings) in my life and this was so well executed, well seasoned with all that umami from mushrooms. That and the chrysanthemum tofu had me in a chokehold. Celebrated my birthday here and I’m so happy to have made that choice!

I had a great time at Etta—it’s easily become one of my favourite spots in Melbourne. The service was friendly and well-informed, which really added to the experience. We went with the set menu and ordered our own drinks on the side. I’m glad we did, because while I might not have picked those dishes myself, everything that came out was a pleasant surprise and beautifully executed. The space itself had a warm, welcoming feel that made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
