About
A super aesthetic Japanese spot in Fitzroy. They open at 12 PM. I came for lunch without checking the time, but luckily a quick walk around the area killed the wait. The space is clean and calming. 2 seating areas: the front room with lots of natural light from the glass windows, and the inside area with big tables plus counter seats facing the open kitchen; you can watch the chefs cook. I chose a window seat because I love eating while watching people, and the bright light also makes the whole

Had the tonkotsu classic and charred Kogashi ramen here a few months ago (late review). The tonkotsu was not bad, but the Kogashi was a little too "charred" for my liking. The waitress did mention it's an intense flavour, but to me it tasted burnt with bitterness diffusing all throughout the dish. I'm not sure if this was intentional or an acquired taste, but I have tasted burnt food before, and it honestly tasted burnt. It was as seared, as it is seared into my memory. I love ramen and I love trying new ramen, but this one just didn't sit right with me. But the tonkotsu was okay. The chawanmushi was also alright though I wouldn't get it again.

I chose a window seat because I love eating while watching people, and the bright light also makes the whole dining experience nicer. We were two people and ordered two dishes. Total was $51. - Kogashi Miso Ramen: Their signature ramen. Before ordering, the staff warned us that the broth is thick and oily - part of their unique style - just to make sure it fits your taste. For me, it was delicious: salty, smoky broth; tender pork (not yet melt-in-your-mouth, but soft enough); noodles are standard, not handmade. Overall, the best ramen I had during my 2 weeks in Mel. - Karaage Chicken Curry Rice: Rice was fluffy and soft. The curry sauce was great; not the typical flavor of instant curry blocks; you can taste the sweetness from the veggies. Downside: the karaage wasnโt crispy at all, and the batter was soggy. Iโd definitely come back to try more dishes next time.
do you guys do delivery to germany by any chance?? I visited this place so many times when i was living in melbourne, I always ordered the same: smokey/spicy edamame, fried mushrooms and the veggie ramen, i was lucky to tried both versions, the clear and the creamy broth, both were absolutely delicious. I went there with friends, sometimes on my own. I think I was there around 6 times in a few months and it never disappointed. Now that I moved overseas, i havenโt been lucky to find anything similar, and itโs heartbreaking, keep the great work guys !! Hopefully I can come back in the future :)
Classy upmarket ramen joint from the Ippudo group. Serving a range of ramen styles in rich and delicious housemade broths, along with appetisers, side dishes and some donburi. Great sakรฉ menu too ๐ถ
Their Kogashi Ramen is a must-try! This charred-style ramen is crafted by heating lard at a high temperature before adding miso paste and chicken stockโsimply delicious. I ordered it as a set meal, which included an onigiri of my choice and dessert. Service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. Do make a reservation, as the place fills up quickly, especially at lunchtime.
