About
When it comes to Malatang, it's all about variety and this restaurant is definitely making it hard for me to keep my selections within a budget. In addition to the usual variety of frozen meat balls, there are marinaded meats, and some exotic/interesting items like lamb brains, bone marrows, large intestines just to name a few. When my foraging was complete, I was spoiled with options again (8 soup choices), but I decided to go with the signature spicy soup. My food was ready after a few minut

My food was ready after a few minutes and I was once again faced with more choices, this time at the sauce station. So I piled on a mountain of fried onions, chopped coriander and spring onions, and a big spoonful of lip-numbing Sichuan pepper oil. The resulting bowl of noodle soup was packed with flavour. The ingredients were perfectly cooked to retain their texture. They also have value deals like adding a drink for extra $2 and unlimited refills of rice. The dining area was clean but seats were limited, so be prepared to sit opposite a complete stranger. There was also this annoying flickering of light due to the celings fans' positions directly below the down lights. Discounts: Eat Club
A lovely, clean spot with heaps of indoor and outdoor seating. Thereโs so much to choose fromโloads of fresh ingredients and nine different soup optionsโsimple, comforting, and absolutely delicious.
Yum this mala place is delicious. Comes with a huge selection of toppings and condiments. Got their signature spicy soup and it was delicious! Rich and full of flavour, it was very satisfying on a cooler day. The restaurant gets quite packed though and it gets quite dirty in there. If you're after an authentic Chinese restaurant you've come to the right place. We ate outside and there was this vent pumping out sichuan peppers which was very strong and disruptive. There are definitely a few OHS issues here but that aside the food is great.
My favourite mala place is sydney! I love the selection of items here, many interesting items like brain, blood, intestines, and well as a good variety of meat; from seasoned meats to pork (which has been hard to find here). Nice asian drink options and good sauce options as well!! The mala comes pretty quick even if there is a queue, and theres a good number of tables. I'd recommend the stir fry over the usual malatang, but they have quite a few diff kinds of mala's that's def worth trying.
Weโve tried the dry malatang here twice to give it a fair chance. On our first visit, the proteins had an unusual taste and the base wasnโt as flavorful as expected, which made it a little difficult to finish. On our second visit, we ordered the spicy base. While the chicken and beef still had a similar taste to before, the flavor overall was much better. The spice level was stronger than what we requested, but still manageable. Across both visits, we found the malatang to be on the salty side. The self-selection section is a highlight, with plenty of vegetables and add-ons to choose from. On our first visit, protein options were limited, but the second time there was a better variety (perhaps they had run out earlier on the first visit). Labels on the ingredients are helpful, but clearer labeling โ especially for proteins โ would improve the experience. The sauce station is a nice feature, though it and the selection area could be kept tidier. Atmosphere-wise, the restaurant is usually busy, which adds to the energy, but it also means tables arenโt always cleaned promptly. Communication with staff can be a bit challenging due to the language barrier, though service was otherwise polite. The wait for food can be a bit long, but having a Cotti milk tea shop right next to the restaurant is a convenient bonus while waiting. Overall, the experience has been mixed but promising. With a little more consistency in flavor, tidiness, clearer labeling, and easier communication, this could be a really solid spot for malatang.
