About
A good little spot on the Corso. Reasonably priced Japanese, serving up usual Japanese staples like ramen, udon, rice bowls and bento boxes. The tempura udon was nice, though it would've been nice to have it served with tempura dipping sauce. Overall, a decent Japanese option in the area. Good Japanese beer options available too, beyond the typical Asahi or Orion. Service was ok, though it would've been better to be served the bill at the end, not while the food was being served. It's strange for a restaurant to do this.
I ordered the Japanese pork cutlet curry, beef udon, and cutlet rice bowl, and all three dishes were very satisfying. The pork cutlet curry had a crispy cutlet and a rich, mildly spicy curry that paired well with the rice. The beef udon had a light but flavorful broth, and the beef was tender and well-seasoned. The cutlet rice bowl was hearty, with a generous portion of cutlet and a well-balanced sauce. In addition, the staff were very friendly and attentive, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, the food was fresh, filling, and well-prepared, and the service was excellent. Itโs a great place to enjoy classic Japanese comfort food.
Jipang is a solid spot for comforting Japanese food. The chicken katsudon was hearty and satisfying, with a crispy crumb soaked perfectly in savoury sauce and soft egg over rice. The chicken karaage don had juicy, well-seasoned chicken with a nice crunch, balanced by fresh greens and sauce. We also loved the veggie tempura โ light, crisp, and not oily, letting the vegetables shine. Overall, generous portions, comforting flavours, and a great choice when youโre craving classic Japanese donburi.
Jipang is hands down the best restaurant in Manly. The chicken katsudon, teriyaki salmon, and pork fried rice were all amazing full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended. I come back here whenever I come to Sydney.
The counter is great for solo eats a the Japanese curry is the best outside of Japan. While itโs not on the menu anymore, their Hiyashi chลซka was also the best.
