Blown away at how tender the beef and lamb was, wow. I think I've found a favourite spot for me and my partner.
noodle broth lacked strong flavours. only reason there’s stars is the braised beef was good and soft. service? was ok. she was polite but she was busy wiping down tables with music in her ear to hear us. we came in 20 minutes after opening, the staff was still cleaning the tables that were visibly dirty from previous night. we asked for a baby chair and my mom had to thoroughly wipe it down as it was dirty and coated with oily substances. staff served table water and chopsticks but no soup spoons to enjoy the (mid) soup. did not provide any cutlery for the kid, had to ask for it which is fine but it goes without saying. would not come back!
Food is good, service is good, atmosphere is good, but the restaurant is hiding from the main streets and not easy to find. Music too loud. Dishes are not presented properly. But, the taste is good.
The restaurant is not located on a bustling main street but is tucked away in a small alley behind the Concourse. The dining environment is elegant, with comfortable seating and warm service. The dishes are served quickly, and the presentation is exquisite. The most impressive dish is the spicy beef tongue, with just the right level of spiciness and a smooth, tender texture—far better than any I've had before. Next is the beef pie, featuring a soft pastry filled with flavorful minced beef. The lamb and chive samsa and the spinach with pine nuts are also very popular. In comparison, the signature vegetarian noodles and specialty braised beef are decent but not as outstanding. The $18 kids' meal is a great deal—all the children finished their plates and happily enjoyed the complimentary ice cream.
This is absolutely a perfect spot for gatherings. The food and the restaurant's ambiance are so cozy and enjoyable. The signature beef and fried vegetable tofu are highly recommended—I absolutely love them! It's traditional but not old-fashioned, truly deserving of a Michelin recommendation. The minor flaws during the soft opening are completely understandable.
