While visiting Newcastle we dinned here for a New Years Eve set menu 2025 which looking at reviews and their menu online, looked like a safe bet. Unfortunately, it was utter chaos with service as it looked like they over sold the event and as a result, the food we were served was not to the standard we were expecting. No plans to return.
Oh My PaPa! Well i finally got to go. Lived up to the expectations! We ordered Szechuan Prawn And Chicken Dumplings $22.00, this dish was recommended by the waitress it was soft delicious juicy beautiful sweet and sour soy sauce chilli fresh coriander and caviar, 7/ 10! Tbh i expected a little more kick, or zing, or tang. Some finger lime would be amazing with this. Korean Karaage Chicken Bao Bun $16.00 Gochujung BBQ sauce, pickled cucumber, lettuce, sesame, fried onion 2pcs. We loved this the crispy pork was such a good combination with the fresh Bao buns 9/10. Massamun Lamb Shank $38.00 Slow Cooked Lamb, Sweet Potatoes, Grilled pineapple, Roasted Cashew nut, Fried Shallot served with Acar pickle (gf) This massamun curry is without a doubt the best I have ever had, it had just the amount of kick curry and pineapple 10/10! Caramelised Sticky Pork Belly $38.00 Twiced cooked pork in a salty sweet caramel sauce w/ Asian coleslaw salad (gf). This was gorgeous! More like a salad. crispy fresh greens on a sweet sticky juicy sauce with plenty of pork belly hidden amongst the greens. it was light and crispy. 10/10. Venue 10. Service 10. Finding a car space was extremely difficult on a Saturday ๐
Incredible food and such friendly, welcoming staff! Really enjoyed our meal here - the creme brulee is the best I've ever had.
We went for the yum cha and yakitori lunch. Ended up choosing the bottomless option. We had a nice meal of various tidbits and were completely full by the end. The yakitori was my standout dish and the prawn dumpling in sour and spicy sauce my least favourite. The wine on offer was nice. I would recommend going no later than 1:15 pm if you choose the bottomless option as they pack up just before 3. Overall a nice afternoon and a variety of tasty courses.
I took my girlfriend to Oh! My Papa for a romantic date night. We had the signature Scallop wrapped in Bacon, Takoyaki, two skewers, Miang Kham (leaf wraps), Chicken Bao Buns and the Lamb Shank main... with a dessert (to share) and a cocktail each. The restaurant itself was buzzing, packed and had an incredibly cool vibe. It was the perfect setting for a date night! It somehow treads the fine line of being both fun and fancy at the same time - which is hard to pull off. The service was friendly, attentive, and warm. Our servers checked on us and explained the dishes perfectly. The food was top tier - a creative fusion of Korean, Thai and Japanese cuisine (three of my favourites). The star of the show was the Miang Kham - a dish unlike any I've ever tasted in my life and a real jolt to the taste buds - wow! We booked in advance and I urge you to do the same. Overall, we had a great night and enjoyed every dish that came out. Give it a crack!
