Loved the Wagyu Numbing Beef โ€” lightly numbing, not spicy, and beautifully balanced. Also had the Flaming King Prawn and a tofu dish with a slight Japanese touch, all done with care. Around $70 per person, perfect for dates or catching up with friends. Worth a visit if youโ€™re curious where modern Chinese cuisine is heading in Melbourne.

Came here not to โ€œtry a new place,โ€ but simply to sit down, eat well, and talk. RuYi feels refined without being pretentious. The Wagyu Numbing Beef was subtle, clean, and comforting โ€” exactly how good Chinese food should feel. A great spot for slow meals and good conversations.

Finally visited RuYi after seeing mixed reviewsโ€”and Iโ€™m so glad I did! The homemade tofu was crispy outside, soft inside (loved the mayo & seaweed topping), and the kingfish ceviche with lime-chili sauce was so refreshing. Desserts were generous tooโ€”caramel custard and apple crumble were delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and chic, perfect for a catch-up with friends. Everything was well-executed, and we left stuffed. Highly recommend this little lane find!

Such a hidden gem for modern Chinese fine dining! Tried their 7-course set menu and left fully satisfiedโ€”something rare for fine dinning! Standouts were the flame-grilled prawns (amazing visual & flavor) and 8-hour braised pork belly baobao (so tender with fresh apple slices). The steamed barramundi was super juicy, and the numbing beef with sweet-spicy sauce paired perfectly with rice. Cozy, intimate vibe great for chatting. Only tiny wish: a bit more heat on the prawns. Will definitely be back!

Such a hidden gem in Melbourne CBD! The 7-course tasting menu was amazing and very filling for just $108. Loved the flame prawn โ€“ not only tasty but such a cool presentation! Great place for a date night or special occasion. Service was friendly and thoughtful too.
