Tried Samnanโs tteokbokki and seafood pancake and they were so good. The flavors taste really authentic, especially the tteokbokki โ perfectly chewy with just the right amount of spice. The seafood pancake was crispy and packed with seafood, not greasy at all. Prices are reasonable too, which makes it even better. Would definitely order again.
We ordered the army stew, kimchi pork fried rice and the fried chicken (soy sauce) the stew also came with a bowl of rice. They also gave us free banchan (3 different types) and water. The soup had a really nice taste and and flavour, the noodles were nice and the cheese made it really creamy. The pork kimchi fried rice had a nice flavour and the seaweed on top gave a nice texture and taste. The fried chicken was really nice very moist, cooked perfectly and had a good flavour.
I was in the Chatswood area looking for a dinner spot and decided to try this Korean restaurant after seeing its high ratings. It had been a while since Iโd had Korean fried chicken, so it felt like the perfect choice. Since I was dining alone, I was seated at a small corner table that felt cramped and very close to the next table. It was hard to enjoy my meal, having to hear the conversation beside me. I ordered the snowing cheese fried chicken, which was decent but quite salty. The seasoning didnโt really measure up to other Korean fried chicken places Iโve tried in Sydney. Overall, it was an ok experience but not one Iโd go back for.
Samnam is this super cute little Korean place tucked away under some apartments. It's kind of hidden from the main road, so you might miss it at first. The food was seriously yummy, but the serving size was just okay. They were a bit stingy with the pork belly โ only a few tiny pieces in there. But hey, there was loads of tofu and veggies to make up for it. The flavors were so good, it didn't even matter that much, and all the side dishes were delicious and crunchy. The service was quick and really friendly, but to be fair, I went when it wasn't busy at all. Looking at their online menu, it seems like it'd be way better to go with a friend or a group, since they've got tons of big sharing platters. At $23 Aussie dollars for the pork belly kimchi stew, I reckon it's a bit pricey considering where it is, the plastic chairs, and the vibe. You're probably better off going with a bunch of people and splitting the cost.
Stopped here for lunch today and absolutely delighted. Great range of menu options (order via tablet at table) and drinks. Food was delicious, fresh and generous serving sizes. Side dishes provided complimentary and great quality too. Service was fast and friendly. Very happy with our lunch - so much so that we ordered takeaway to have for dinner tonight too! Highly recommended.
