⭐*5 Came here with a couple of friends for weekday yum cha and had a really great experience at Sunny seafood restaurant. The restaurant is very spacious with lots of tables, so we were seated straight away with no waiting. We noticed both Chinese and local diners around us, which made the place feel lively and popular. We happened to visit during their anniversary promotion, which offers a weekday 20% off for yum cha. We ordered quite a lot and still only paid just over $100 for three people, and we were honestly very full. Portions are very generous for the price. The rice rolls were clearly made fresh to order — soft, smooth and bouncy, not dry at all. The fried items also tasted fresh, not reheated. The shopkeeper recommended a couple of new steamed buns, including a chocolate walnut bun and a purple sweet potato bun. The chocolate and walnut combination was surprisingly good and not bitter, and the sweet potato bun was soft and comforting. We also tried their herbal jelly (gui ling gao), which was very smooth and refreshing. The shopkeeper mentioned it’s traditionally known for helping cool the body, support digestion, and soothe the throat, making it a really nice, light and healthy way to finish a heavier meal. Overall, great value, friendly service and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. We’d definitely come back.

Not sure if I came on an off day or if everyone was away but this place was dead for a Saturday lunch session!!! I'm used to busy lines out the door, but only a few tables full. Limited choices, same trolley ladies coming around. No honey baked bbq pork buns which is my must have!! Didn't see egg tarts. We got sick of waiting for new food so we left- still hungry. Which is unusual for yum cha. Limited food selection = less ppl = limited food selection!!??!!

Overall, the food was decent — nothing blew me away, but nothing was bad either. The har gow and siu mai were solid, with decent flavour and fresh enough ingredients. Good for a casual dim sum fix when you’re in the area. I’d say it's worth trying once to see if it suits your taste.

Sunny Seafood Restaurant is a solid choice for traditional yum cha, especially if you’re looking for a reliable and satisfying weekend brunch. The selection of dim sum is extensive and covers all the classics. The har gow had thin, delicate wrappers with fresh, crunchy prawns inside, while the siu mai was juicy and well seasoned. The chicken feet were soft and flavourful, and the liu sha bao was a standout, with a rich molten centre that wasn’t overly sweet. The tea was fragrant and well brewed, and dishes came out quickly even during busy hours. The push-cart service added to the authentic yum cha atmosphere and made the experience feel lively and traditional. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious, making it a comfortable spot for family gatherings or catching up with friends. Service was efficient and friendly despite the crowd. Overall, Sunny Seafood Restaurant offers good quality food, a classic yum cha experience, and reasonable prices by Sydney standards. It’s a dependable place to go when you’re craving proper Cantonese dim sum without any fuss.

Sunny Seafood is truly Sydney's oldest seafood restaurant, and their experience shows, especially during yum cha. They offer a great range of classic and uncommon dim sum items. I loved the generous serving of Beancurd Rolls with Duck Feet and their Chicken Pie is seriously good. A huge bonus is their Roast Goose—it's unique because they're the only place in Australia that roasts it from their own farm! The food is high quality, fresh, and tastes authentic. Definitely worth the visit for a great yum cha experience.
